Investing Capital for Sustainable Impact in Mauritius

An increasing number of investment funds and managers are using the Mauritius platform as the gateway for Impact and Sustainable Funds. This is not surprising as more than six hundred investment funds with a focus in Africa have chosen Mauritius to structure their operations. Establishing Mauritius as the leading financial hub for investment in Asia and Africa.

Also in partnership with IIX Impact Institute, and as part of its strategy to ensure that the capital markets actively provide the infrastructure and systems that will bring Impact Issuers and Impact Investors together from across the globe; the Stock Exchange of Mauritius (SEM) launched Impact Exchange in June 2013 - the world’s first Social Stock Exchange dedicated to connecting impact enterprises with capital that reflects values.

This puts Mauritius ahead of some of Africa's bigger economies, however, to mainstream the culture of impact investing policymakers must work in collaboration with impact entrepreneurs, investors, managers and enablers to create, realise and sustain impact ecosystems.

ESG and Impact Investing is now among the top two items on the agenda of alternative asset managers
